At Materials In The Raw, we're passionate about landscaping and building! Recently we sponsored the WorldSkills Compeititon! WorldSkills is an event aimed to equip young Australians with the knowledge to make an informed choice about future career options.

The Skills Show also provides a unique chance to network with the hundreds of industry and educational experts.

Daniel Favorito and Oska Jory from Padstow Tafe Represented Team NSW along with 2 other teams one from Ryde Tafe and the other from Richmond Tafe. Team Padstow took out Silver, with Gold going to a team from Victoria.

The competition was run over 3 days consisting of 7 hours each day. The competitors had to build a garden that included a stone wall, a stone flagging pathway, a timber table, a block retaining wall, paving and brick edging. The garden also included a dry pebble garden, turfing, planting out and mulching including setting out and surveying of the above.

The students were marked on the precision and quality of the above components. 1st and 2nd place were very closely scored.

Congratulations Daniel and Oska for bringing home the silver medal!
